Rhonda is the sole owner of Advanced Physiotherapy. She graduated from Queen’s University School of Rehabilitation in 1987 with her BSc in Physical Therapy.
For the first 10 years Rhonda worked in private practice, in orthopaedic settings in Halifax and the Ottawa area. In 1997 she then opened Advanced Physiotherapy with a desire to provide services and connect with the Barrhaven community in which she lives.
Rhonda has dedicated many hours to expanding her clinical skills through courses in manual therapy, acupuncture, dry needling, McKenzie credentials in mechanical back and neck treatment, myofascial release… along with numerous other courses and symposiums. Having worked for many sports teams and individual athletes including water-polo, soccer, hockey, gymnastics she has enjoyed the challenge of keeping elite athletes ‘on the field’ through prevention and treatment.
Rhonda enjoys the atmosphere of a small clinic and being able to work with staff and clients to provide the best possible care to all.
Amy is a bilingual registered physiotherapist with 13 years of clinical experience. She graduated from the University of Ottawa with a B.Sc in Physiotherapy Summa Cum Laude in 2007.
After graduating Amy has taken several post graduate courses including Manual Therapy Levels I to III, Mckenzie treatment method levels A through E, acupuncture, Barnes` Myofascial release techniques, Diane Lee treatment method, as well as several specialized shoulder treatment courses including Lyn Watson`s shoulder course Level I and 2. Amy enjoys treating concussion injuries and has completed several post graduate courses in concussion rehab including R2P courses level 1 and 2 as well as Concussion Rehab Works levels 1 and 2.
Amy is passionate about helping patients achieve their rehabilitation goals and maintain them by providing one on one treatment sessions using her many skills along with a hand tailored home exercise program. She is commited to continue taking post graduate classes to keep on top of the new, evidence-based recommendations and treatment techniques in order to continue providing good quality physiotherapy interventions.
Alexander completed his Professional Master's of Physiotherapy at University College Dublin, Ireland in 2019. Prior to this he received a BSc. (Hon.) in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph, and a MSc. in Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen's University, Kingston. His background provides a wealth of knowledge in exercise, nutrition and the most current literature supporting physiotherapy.
Since returning to Canada, Alexander has enjoyed treating orthopaedic and sports injuries with a combination of exercise, acupuncture and manual therapy specific to individual patient needs. He has taken postgraduate coursework in acupuncture, and is always eager to continue expanding his training and knowledge base to incorporate the most up to date research.
Alexander is passionate about promoting physical activity and a healthy lifestyle across the lifespan. Through evidence-based treatments and an active approach he is eager to assist patients in achieving their goals of returning to work, sport or a pain-free, active lifestyle.
Active in sport throughout life, when he isn't reading physiotherapy textbooks and research he can be found powerlifting and kettlebell training on a daily basis.
Tara has been an integral part of Advanced Physiotherapy since 2007, in an administrative role. She is here to help you with all non-treatment related tasks. Booking appointments, addressing insurance related issues, processing your e-claims, ensuring the clinic runs smoothly… are among the many and varied tasks she performs. Tara works hard “behind the scenes” in order to ensure each client has the best possible experience at our clinic. She provides great support to our physiotherapists, allowing the physiotherapist to focus on the treatment aspect of the clients visit.
